Lake Titicaca - Mystic and Sacred One of the highest navigable lakes of the world located at 3,800 meters above sea level. The lake is divided into two parts, the big lake (Chucuto) in the north and the small lake (Huiñamarca) in the south. Yungas - Dive into adventureThe Yungas region is located around three hours away from La Paz; it is a transition zone that appears behind La Cumbre, more specifically in the foothills of the Cordillera Real. It is the starting point of the lowlands or the Bolivian Amazon and so the temperature goes up as one goes down, diving into the characteristic humidity of the tropical area. The landscape is a mix of green hills, cliffs, rivers, waterfalls and an overwhelming vegetation. Yungas is a term characterizing a particular ecosystem, which is also known as cloud forest. This ecosystem is a narrow strip of around 5,500 Km long, east of the Andes mountains. It extends from Venezuela to the northwest of Argentina, covering the wet slopes between 400 and 3,000 masl. Rurrenabaque - Biodiversity without limits The town of Rurrenabaque was founded in 1844 on the banks of the Beni River. This absolutely quiet, safe and tropical town is located in a beautiful region in the tropical lowlands, with two very important ecosystems, namely the evergreen rainforest or jungle and the Moxos flood plains or “Pampas" at 260 masl. Rurrenabaque is the gateway to the Pampas and the Madidi National Park, both of which protected areas with a variety of ecological layers harboring a great diversity of plants and animals. Sucre and Potosí - Jewels of culture The beautiful city of Sucre is the constitutional capital city of Bolivia, the seat of the Supreme Court and the capital city of the department of Chuquisaca. The city is located in the south-center of the country at an altitude of 2,750 masl (9,100 feet). Sucre is also known as Chuquisaca, Charcas and La Plata, which is why it is nicknamed ‘the city with the four names´. Oruro - Land of CarnivalThe city of Oruro is considered the capital city of Bolivian folklore. Every year, it hosts the most colorful and traditional carnival of America. The folklore groups participating in the carnival parade are organized in brotherhoods, many of which have meanwhile existed for more than 50 years. The most characteristic dance of this carnival is the Diablada (Devil’s Dance), which is a mixture of Andean traditions and Catholic influences.
